Trips & Trails

ImageMany Skate Journeys students come to classes with the goal of learning to skate well on the trail.  Trail skating is also something you will find the Skate Journeys staff doing in their spare time, too.  It is simply an awesome way to get and stay in shape for life.  Once you have learned the basics for skating efficiently on the trial, a whole new world of opportunities will be available for travel and fun.

Whether you like to skate fast or just play, go solo, with a group or in a paceline, there are many great trails in the northwest.  For some of us, there's nothing like the camaraderie skating in a pace line, working together over miles and miles of trail.

The Puget Sound area has one of the nation's best trail systems, and we're pretty fortunate to be able to get out and skate them.

If you want to join a group skate or find others to skate with, we suggest you take a look at the Seattle Inline Skate Meetup group.

Not ready to hit the trials yet?  Join us for our indoor and (seasonal) outdoor classes to build up your skills and confidence.

If you are ready to head out on your own, check out our guide to local and regional skate trails so that you will know the best places to go, how to get there, and what to expect.

We're indebted to David McCreary, author of "Rolling Around Puget Sound" to allow us to use his book as the staring point for this trails guide.  Over time we will be adding more trails to the guide, and updating the guide with the latest information, maps and photographs.  If you would like to help with this project, email or .

See you out on the trails, skaters!
